A New York Times Exposé about Elon Musk's Manic Behaviour and Chemical Intake Shows the Trump Administration for What it is: Drug-Addled Low-Rent Gangsters
Trump and many of his supporters think they can break any law they want and get away with it.
They are treating politics as if it is a win-lose sporting match
This is not going to last." - Douglas Lamont
The reality is that Trump and his supporters can break any law and get away with it. I believe it’s flawed thinking to assume this won’t last.
Trump continues to break laws daily—such as violating provisions of the USMCA, the trade agreement he himself negotiated and agreed to—while the checks and balances Congress is expected to enforce simply don’t exist in practice today.
The U.S. system of government was designed to be collaborative and cooperative, with the powers of impeachment and removal serving as remedies for an offending president. However, these remedies depend on the willingness of Congress to act. With the GOP in control of the House and Senate, there is no political will to hold Trump accountable, rendering these constitutional checks useless in practice.
Trump's stacking of the Supreme Court is the icing on a poison cake, as the Court now leans heavily in his favor, further eroding the accountability that the judiciary is meant to provide.
Corruption is the single biggest problem facing the world, and the U.S., and Trump and his officials are dripping with corruption, and have done incredible harm, but your excessive reverence of authority is part of the problem.
Yes, Trump is breaking laws daily, and there are courts and countries objecting and blocking back, but the sense that it is inevitable or permanent has to be challenged and an alternative prepared for. Actually naming the blatant criminality is part of the point - including the outrageous corruption on the part of the Supreme Court.
Trump is now posting memes saying that Biden is a robot.
Good column. Unfortunately, elites will not surrender their wealth and power without a fight. I don't want it, but human nature tells us there WILL be violence, and a lot of it. Hard to say if people can take back control, or elites declare war on citizens. But make no mistake, it is coming. Prepare accordingly.
Of course people can take back control, and no there is no need for violence or war. This is part of the history of democracy and self-government, and we are facing the same arguments we did in the 1800s and 1900s and 1930s. There are legal, non-violent, non-destructive policies that can rein in excess. Teddy Roosevelt did it busting trusts, FDR did it with the New Deal.
The idea that we must face violence, or that wealth is something that must be taken or redistributed ignores that new wealth and income can be created. It does not have to be taken.
despite all the failings of Donald Trump on a personal level lets always remember that he is for freedom in liberty in keeping with the basic philosophy of Jefferson and Madison that made America great. We see this most clearly in his advocacy for tax cuts regulation cuts and cutting the bloated bureaucracy all to give us in freedom and liberty from government. if you are a real American you have to support Trump not the anti-American socialist woke open border green new deal Democrats.
Jefferson and Madison founded the Republican Party in 1792 to stand for freedom and liberty from government Donald Trump roughly stands for the same thing which is why he's trying to cut taxes and regulations and the bloated bureaucracy. Democrats are big government socialist anti-American. Now do you understand?
🤣 I'm an American. Jefferson and Madison worked their rear ends off trying to create a system of checks and balances to prevent someone like Taco Soprano from coming to power.
Hi Elizabeth, You seem utterly confused. Jefferson and Madison wanted checks and balances so no branch of govt would have much power. Democrats want all branches to have unlimited power. That is why they support for example Green New Deal, Medicare for All, and Guaranteed Basic Income.
We don't care whether Adolf Hitler for example had checks and balances in his govt if it was a centralized all powerful Nazi govt. If you still don't understand please feel free to comment further. Thanks!
Ted, what a very nice person you must be; so willing to help Elizabeth understand that Trump is not a fool that the world is laughing at - TACO Donny lol. I'm sure she is appreciative of your offer to help, just as I am. I've been speechless for a while this morning, just trying to fully appreciate your self-insight and your knowledge of history and human nature, but now I think I can tell you that your mansplaining reminds me of my 8 year old grandson offering to explain to me how his pokemon game works. It's so cute and funny but essentially pretty boring and useless.
If you disagree with my conservative libertarian Aristotelian Republican mansplaining why not think of a reason for your disagreement and then try to present your reason here in you clearest femsplaining???
Ted: your statement is riddled with historical inaccuracies, partisan hyperbole, and oversimplified arguments.
While you are entitled to your opinion, your claim that Trump embodies the principles of Jefferson and Madison is demonstrably false.
True freedom and liberty are rooted in respect for the Constitution, the rule of law, and democratic values—principles that Trump has consistently undermined.
Your statement promotes divisiveness by framing political differences as a battle between ‘real Americans’ and an ‘anti-American’ opposition. This kind of rhetoric deepens polarization and discourages meaningful debate or collaboration.

Funny how legacy media is still capable of investigative journalism when the result is a hit piece on someone who’s falling out of Trump’s favour.

Isn't Ted a great guy, Julie? I'll miss him when his children take his phone away from him.

Also, the tax cuts are for the rich.
